  1. Hello, the availability of hotel rooms for a National Convention is always a hot topic. We've tried to be as honest and transparent as we can regarding when the room blocks will be opened up and available for reservations. We announced in Phoenix that we thought it would happen in Mid-September, and I didn't realize how accurate that was. Let this serve as the official announcement (or one of several) that the room blocks for all three convention hotels will be open, and reservation links posted on the convention website (www.ipmsusanationals.com), on Friday September 14, 2018. There are three hotels at this point: 1) The Marriott. This hotel is physically attached to the Chattanooga Convention Center, and will therefore be the most convenient. The room rate is $144/night. 2) The Day's Inn Rivergate. About a block and a half away, it's a very easy walk to the CCC, and for the budge conscious, the room rate is $109/night. 3) The Read House. A historic downtown hotel, it's just now wrapping up a complete renovation. I'm told they left the "ghost room" alone, but I don't know what they did with the room that housed Al Capone as he was transported from Florida to Chicago to stand trial. An easy 2 block walk to the CCC, the room rate is $134/night. Again, all three blocks will be opened up on 9-14-18 with reservation links posted on the convention website - www.ipmsusanationals.com Thanks Mike Moore Convention Chairman

  2. Brilliant idea! Nice work on the lighting too. I can only imagine what it would be like for the owner of that house to see this display and recognize their home in this display. That would be so cool.

  3. Thank you Peter @StrikeEagle, for your complimentive words. Glad you like the build log. ______________________________________ Now there was a matter of a partial house within the display boundaries. Assuming standard whole 'feet' measurements. I was able to get a good estimation of the house size. Decided to include interior lighting. Using an electronic ciruit which squences 5 outputs (LED lights). So, I divide the house into five rooms. Also added thin Perspex for windows. It was a bit tricky making the roof. Because the Masonite is 2.5 mm thick, I had to use wood putty to fill on the bevelled gaps. Included a painted figurine into the front enclosed verander. She is now overlooking the construction of the model Tested and created the sequencer circuit. Every 10 seconds one room light will turn off while an adjacent room switches on. This will appear as if someone is going from one room to the next.

  4. Len, I was just reading an unrelated story about San Marcos and they mentioned an attraction that I thing would be great tour for the auto guys. Apparently there is a place called Dick's Classic Car Garage not far from the venue. It does offer tours and I think it would be great to have a "Civilian vehicle" a tour. You may also contact them to see if they might be willing to sponsor some of the car categories. This is an opportunity to show that IPMS is more than Military modelers.
