  5. Well the model looks perfect and no one would even know otherwise, but it's a shame your hard work on the linkage was defeated by a fall. Stuart
  6. Took a lot of skill to put a polish like that on that old mold! Very nice! Gil
  7. PPPPPPPPPPretty odd and cool subject .. keep it up !..

  11. HI,HI,HI ...after seeing what you can do with all those armor kits , I'm sure you have some good trick hidden in your sleeve to prevent damage .. !
  12. Thank you Stuart! My other challenges I faced were with the linkage inside the nose to make it raise and lower, it was darn near impossible to get installed correctly, but I managed. It became a moot point in the long run when this model fell while I was installing the landing gear. Everything broke and the three pieces of the linkage fell out so the nose is currently glued shut. The seams were a real bear to fill and sand, especially along the wing/fuselage joint. That kept cracking open when I tried filling it, so eventually I had to add some strip styrene along the joint to make sure it stayed glued and sealed. A number of other seams were difficult and half the flaps kept breaking off despite having a strong attachment system. Painting it wasn't bad, but even with gloves on, I kept having brown and black smudges on it that wouldn't clean up, resulting in the need for another coat of white. Thank you Jean-Marc! I do hope to show it someday, despite it being a "three-foot" model. I'm still mulling over ideas for transporting it out and back without it arriving or returning in pieces.
  13. Thank you Jean-Marc! The next post was the Concorde, then I also posted a B-66 so there's a fre for you to see.
  14. That looks fantastic so far! Bring it man!
  15. Yes, I have completed another troublesome aircraft, this time it's the old Italeri US Air Force B-66 Destroyer before it was converted to a Red Crown ELINT aircraft. I had painted, stripped and repainted this numerous times so this is another great "three-foot" model: It's been shot with a Krylon aluminum paint, and the one decal on the engine broke when I tried again to use Solvaset to lay it down flat. Someday when I'm not so disgusted with this model I'll try to paint match and fix it. Thank you all for looking in, comments are welcome.
  16. As I mentioned earlier, the building details are impressive enough, let alone the wiring ingenuity that you're also incorporating. The more scale antenna details are also a nice touch, though I dare not put things like that on myself before painting and decalling is done or I'll knock them off while handling the model. Carry on! Looking forward to your final steps on this beauty! Gil
  17. A new project is now on the workbench. Started in on a 1/25 scale M-20 prime mover. Evergreen stock and brass or various sizes and shapes will be used to create the model. Biggest challenge will be the Hercules Diesel engine that will have to be done. There are some decent sources of information out there including Tankograd and a walkaround by Dave Doyle publications. The molds for making 10 12:00 x 20 tires are now done. The tires in the photo are 3D printed that are being used as masters. Will post pics as progress continues.
  18. Tenth week of the CH-46D was spent adding external details and starting base coat of painting. I built up the lower section and routed the wires (one for each side). The end caps for the landing gear were then modified for the wires. I used the 30 gauge wire to represent the hydraulic lines. These go into the wheel hub and exit thru the middle of the tire. They will later feed thru the base to the power source for the lights. Next I started to add the small external details. One thing I noticed is the kit does not cover the section between the rear door and the crew section. This left the underside of the tail and wiring exposed. I located a reference photo that showed this area covered with the same blanket panels that are above the crew seats. So I used the 3M glass tape on a small frame to fit the area. I then modified the rear landing gear pods and the nose strut to add the tie-down loops. The underside has a couple of antenna’s which are supplied in the kit, however these kit pieces are very thick. The nose small blade antenna was replaced with a photo etch version. The posts for the wire antenna were replaced with gold pins from a scrap computer circuit card. The large blade antenna is the kit part but the thickness was thinned down with sanding sticks. Also on the tail is a small vent tube. The kit piece was plastic with a small hole in it. I replaced this with an aluminum tube. Finally I started the base coat of painting. The overall green is FS34097 with flat black for the exhaust area. This upcoming week I hope to finish up the base coat, final assembly, and start on the decals.
