The Duke Rolls Out Four More...

Hey all!

Here is some more armor I managed to finish up recently. I'm finally getting a chance to post it.

First off, my Russian Army is taking delivery of two more 76mm guns. These are the two ACE guns I was building in 1/72 scale.

Here's the Russian F-22 76mm gun:

Next is the Russian F22 USV 76mm gun:

Next is my US Marine M-26 Pershing. I'm not too happy with the weathering on this yet; I may do a little more to improve it. For now though, it is finished:

And finally, my British Army is taking delivery of 'Cuckoo' the captured German Panther:

There you go, my latest parade of finished armor. Thanks all for looking in, comments are welcome.

Progress on 2 jets

I'm building the F-21A Kfir just because it's such a COOL looking jet, and I still occasionally see one in the air over Jax (ATAC aggressor bird). This is the 1/48 ESCI kit with some ISRACAST resin parts grafted on for detail and correction purposes. Mine will be in USN markings (Isracast decals)

The next one is the 1/48 CollectAire resin T-45C Goshawk. I'm building it for the resin group build on Hyperscale. This is a very nice kit with pe and white metal parts as well as resin. The only complication so far is the leading edge slats, which were molded separate but "solid". I had to use a motor tool to give them their airfoil shape and build up the under-slat area with strip plastic and Milliput (which is drying in this pic). Note that the cockpit area is so open that all of the painting and detailing can be done later!

The main gear well fit very nicely and only needed a little detailing with strip plastic gussets and solder for hoses. There's still much to be done of course! The markings will be in the brand new USN Aviation "100th anniversary" scheme rolled out a few weeks ago; that is: white fuselage with a black nose and tail, and CHROME YELLOW wings with black chevrons! It'll be pretty, if nothing else! Comments, questions, and critiques welcome as always! Cheers!

GIL

I ordered about six replacement parts for a 1/72 Tomcat that I'm building. To be exact they are all 3 landing gears. Bt anyway I called Revell and they rep said that it'd take 12 WEEKS just to get them shipped? I can't believe that. I mean I'm not paying for anything, but is Revell good at shipping replacements or not? And does it take that amount of time to ship, sheesh!

I fined that I will learn something from someone else and be able to apply it to my build. It's pretty much an out of box build I added the Top Studio gear linkage, rivets, and cable tensioners, also used S27 carbon fiber. I really enjoyed this kit and will be building more of then in the future.

Thanks for looking
Dave

Need Help

Hello,
Thank you for reading my new post. I am the owner of a hobby shop in central Florida and came across a huge collection of plastic models. I became

interested in this collection to use to stock the shelves of the plastics isle in my store. All of the models are unbuilt some are still in shrink wrap the rest are

%100 complete. The ones that are not wrapped have the decals and instructions placed in ziplock bags. There are almost 900 pieces in all categories, from all

manufactures. Manufactures I have never heard of before from Russia Japan and Europe. Now for the good part, Most of these models Have been

discontinued and date back to the mid 1950's. So needless to say I don't think it would be such a great idea to just through these models on my shelves to

sell to the general public. So that brings me here looking for some sound advise on what to do with this product. What is the best way to value them? Some I

was able to find on Ebay, and on the internet for sale, but most I can not find any trace of I know the value (not necessarily monetary) is great to some. This is

why I think it would be a shame to sell them to some kid to take home and paint with there moms nail polish. Advise Please.

Thank you.

The view from the Tropicana, Las Vegas

On my trip down to the Nationals in Phoenix I spent the night in Las Vegas at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino. Room had been recently remodeled and was nice but the casino was still upgrading and their machines were not in a friendly mood :banghead:.

I always like to check my view and knew I was probably facing the airport so took a peek and what was sitting out at the closest part to me.

Yes, one of the infamous "Janet" Boeing 737s. So I watched on and off throughout the evening.

They did a constant business of flying in and out throughout the afternoon with a total of 5 parked when I went to bed for the night.

In the morning there was only one sitting again, just like when I arrived. Seeing these up close and personal (especially with my 30x zoom on the new camera) was pretty cool after hearing about them.

Close up of a couple together.

First I heard of these was the model built by Bill Engar entered in the SLC 06 contest.

Here are a few other visitors I saw.

Eagle Strike Decals

I'm looking for an Eagle Strike decal sheet that has been out of stock for some time. I think the number is 48-001. It's for 1/48 F-4 Phantoms. Specifically, VF-121 which used to be the West Coast RAG squadron. If you have one and would be willing to sell it, send me an email: nicksr@mertes.us. I'm even open to the part of the sheet with just the VF-121 markings.

Bergepanthers--early vs. late question(s)

ICM has a 1/35 kit of an "early" Bergepanther, and Italeri has a kit of what seems to be a "late" Bergepanther (297 vehicles produced in WWII). I have seen a few photo references of the late (Italeri) version, but have yet to come across any photos of the early version.

Does anyone have any idea how many "early" versions were produced? Where were they deployed? Russia? No spade or winch, so what were they used for? Simply towing disabled vehicles, or as a prime mover of some sort?

Any known photo references of an "early" version?

For those who built the Italeri kit, what major modifications (aside from adding PE) did you feel needed to be made to the kit? It seems several builders have used Tamiya or Dragon road wheels & tracks. Using different tracks is totally understandable, as the Italeri tracks are pretty much useless junk, but why the need for new roadwheels? I have a set of old Modelkasten tracks to use, but really don't want to buy a Dragon or Tamiya Panther just for roadwheels if I don't have to.

Any additional data, references or ideas about modeling a Bergepanther are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Milliput Problems

I have been using squadron putty for filler and have been somewhat satisfied with results, except it does not seem to sand as smooth as I would like. I tried milliput after hearing so many positive reports and I was really dissatisfied with this product. When I cut the two pieces, with different knives to prevent contamination, and started to blend them I ended up with a really sticky ball of clay that was difficult to use and shape and in several instances did not get hard after several days. The few times I was able to successfully use this product I was satisfied with the sanding properties but overall I am not happy. I have been hearing about Aves sculpting putty and wonder what you all think. Thanks in advance for your response.
