Ploesti B-24 Photo search

I'm relaying this for a former IPMS member. Hope someone can help.

Although a couple of decal companies and at least one artist have

represented Medal of Honor earner Addison Baker's TIDAL WAVE/Ploesti B-24D

"Hell's Wench" in visual form, I've never been able to find a photo of the

plane or its nose art any place on the net or in any of the dozens of

Ploesti books I own. As you know, I don't do historical things from

imagination or conjecture--I need proof. Have you ever seen a photograph

of

this plane and can you direct me to where I can see it? I really need your

help. Thanks much!

Good luck and good modeling!

Hi Ron,

Interestingly enough there doesn't seem to be anything out there even on my favorite site for B-24s, http://www.b24bestweb.com/

One site he might want to try is this forum. There are 105 pages and it is filled with pics and videos though whether any pics of Hell's Wench are in there they didn't show with a search.

Phil,

Thanks for trying. We'll keep looking, I guess. I don't know what unit the a/c was in, but is there a unit history out there that might have pictures?

I couldn't find any pics either although the art and decals all seem to be in agreement on a rather standard finish with yellow arched letters. Rocky's site has a lot of historical info:

And this British site confirms the lack of photo:

Wish I had more for ya but this may be one of those 'oral history only' incidences.

No luck looking for pix. Addison Baker's bio & MOH citation has some useful info: http://www.fampeople.com/cat-addison-baker

LTC Baker was the commander of the 93rd BG over Ploesti. He was killed trying to get his crew out of the burning bomber at low altitude. Humbling stuff here.

My next best guess would be to contact the 93rd BG (or even the 93rd BW) vets' reunion website and see if somebody doesn't have it in a family collection.
