rllee
On the Revell Monogram1:48 USAF F4 phantom kit I'm working on it calls out for neutral gray & dark gray. I'm using Vallejo neutral gray bit it seems to be too dark. Any suggestions on another neutral gray?
ghodges
The lighter gray is FS# 36270....if you're using a WWII Neutral Gray (either an ANA# or no number at all), it's probably much darker and browner than the post Vietnam color of 36270 Neutral Gray, which is lighter and bluer than the WWII paint of the same name. If you don't have any 36270 on hand or available, simply start adding some white to your current bottle of Neutral Gray until you get the contrast you see in references as compared to the 36118 Gunship Gary on the rest of the model. Also, adding about 10% more white to BOTH colors helps account for "scale effect", to make it look more realistic on a scale model. Hope this helps!
